2005 Auto Raffle

The beautiful 1970 Red Chevrolet El Camino was 1st Prize for the raffle for 2005. It comes equipped with the following: 350 HP V8 engine, Automatic, AC, and a spray sealed bed liner. The winner will have the WA State Tax & License paid for as part of the prize. The 2nd Prize is a 4-Day Cruise along the Baja Peninsula offered through Royal International Travel Service. Lastly, the 3rd Prize is a 27” Color Television Set with Remote Control.

Thanks to all of you, we had another year of success with the 2005 auto raffle. Ticket sales were good right up to the last moment. The drawing for the 1970 Chevy El Camino, the cruise and the TV was held on Thursday, December 1st at 8:00 p.m.

Right after the drawing, lots of telephone calls came in to the Shrine to find out who the winners were of the drawing. But, it didn’t stop there as calls continued to come in throughout Friday and on Saturday. Likewise, I received email inquiries regarding the drawing, as did other Nobles. One in particular claimed that he had gone to our Shrine website to find the email address. So, without a doubt there was a lot of public interest in our Auto raffle.

Our newest Nobles, Paul Burchfield and Travis Sam drew the tickets for the winners. The winner of the 1970 Chevy El Camino was Eric Corpus of Fox Island. Eric had taken his family to the Puyallup Fair during its 2nd week when he purchased the winning ticket.

Eric and his family came to pick up their prize on Saturday, December 3rd. The winners of the cruise and TV came from Shelton and Bothell, WA..

Potentates Pin for 2008

The Crescent was adopted as the Jewel of the Order. The most valuable are the claws of a Royal Bengal Tiger, unified at their base in a gold setting. In the center is the head of a sphinx, and on the back are a pyramid, an urn and a star. The Jewel bears the Arabic motto "Kuwat wa Ghadab," which means "Strength and Fury." Today the Shrine emblem includes a scimitar from which means the crescent hangs, and a five pointed star beneath the head of the sphinx.
